Sausagemeat Plait


Pastry
200g Plain flour
100g Butter
1 Egg - beaten
Pinch salt

Filling
75g Ground Pork
1/4tsp Mixed herbs
Salt & Pepper
Sliced tomato
Chopped Spring onions
Glaze with beaten Egg

Method
1. Sift flour & salt into large bowl.
2. Cut butter into small pieces & rub into flour using fingertips only until it resembles "breadcrumbs."
3. Beat egg & add, use a round bladed knife to bring together, then use hands to form a ball. Do not over handle - treat the pastry gently.
4. Roll out pastry into a rectangle.
5. For the filling mix meat with salt & pepper & herbs, put in centre of pastry, place tomato & spring onion on top.
6. Cut pastry sides into strips. Fold up ends & carefully plait pastry over the meat. Glaze with egg using a brush.
7. Bake on lined baking tray for approx 20/25 minutes at 180oC/375oF/Gas 5.
