Cheese Pretzels

Ingredients
200g plain flour
25g mature cheddar cheese
25g butter cut in small pieces
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon sugar
pinch salt
100 ml milk
To glaze 1 egg beaten. Toppings sesame seeds, extra grated cheese, coarse sea salt

Method
1. Pre heat the oven to 200°C/400°F/Gas 6
2. Line a baking tray with baking paper
3, Sift the flour, baking powder, sugar & salt in a large bowl and mix together.
4. Add the butter, rub in using your fingertips.
5. Grate cheese & add to the bowl.
6. Gradually add the milk & stir with a round bladed knife until it forms a ball.
7. Lightly flour a work surface and knead the dough until smooth.
8. Roll out to a rectangle shape approx 25x18cm
9. Cut dough into strips, twist into pretzels-knot shapes.
10. Brush with beaten egg, sprinkle with coarse sea salt, sesame seeds or grated cheese.
11. Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden.
Eat warm!
