Chocolate Valentine biscuits


Ingredients
150g self raising flour
15g cocoa powder
125g soft butter
60g caster sugar
50g milk/dark chocolate
Icing sugar to dust


Method
1. Preheat oven 170°C 350°F gas3
2. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
3. Sieve together in a bowl the flour and cocoa - put to one side.
4. In a separate bowl, cream together butter and sugar with a wooden spoon until pale and fluffy, then add cocoa  powder and flour. Keep working the mixture together until it forms a stiff ball
5. Roll into walnut size balls using the palm of your hand, then place on the baking tray, well spaced out.
6. Flatten either with a fork or a palate knife.
7. Bake for 5 minutes, then turn down to 150°C for 10 minutes more.
8. Cool on a wire rack.
9. Break up the chocolate into chunks, melt chocolate in a basin over simmering water.
10. Before the biscuits are cold use a heart shaped cutter and press into the biscuits to give them shape.               11. When the biscuits are cold spread a little chocolate over with a palate knife and sandwich two together.                                                                                                                                                              12. Dust with icing sugar and serve.
