Red nose day Gingerbread


Ingredients
350g plain flour
1tsp Bicarbonate of Soda
1tsp Ginger
100g Soft butter
175g Soft brown sugar
4 tbs Golden syrup
1 Egg

Method
1. Sift together flour, bicarbonate of soda & ginger.
2. Rub in butter until it looks like breadcrumbs.
3. Stir in brown sugar.
4. In a small bowl carefully measure golden syrup, mix well with egg.
5. Add to dry ingredients.
6. Mix with a spoon, then use hands to form a ball.
7. Dust worksurface with flour & roll out dough & evenly shape.
8. Bake in a pre heated oven 170oC/350oF/Gas 4/5 for approx 10 minutes.
9. Cool on a wire rack & decorate when cold.
