Apple & Blackberry Crumble Crunch

Ingredients
70g wholemeal plain flour
30g oatmeal
50g soft butter
50g soft brown sugar
1 tablespoon chopped nuts
few pinces of mixed spice
2 large bramley cooking apples
2 tablespoons blackberries
4 tablespoons water
2 tablespoons caster sugar

Method
1 Pre heat the oven 180°C/ 375°F/Gas 5.
2 To make the topping; carefully weight out the flour and oatmeal in a large bowl.

4 Weigh out butter, cut up into small pieces using a round bladed (pallete) knife.
5. Then using your fingertips rub the butter in until it resembles coarse breadcrumbs.
6. Stir in the  soft brown sugar and nuts and add the mixes spice.
7. To make the filling; peel and cut apples into 1/4's. Core and slice thickly.
8. Put into a pan with water and caster sugar.
9. Simmer gently over a medium heat until just cooked, then cool.
10. Spoon apple mixture into an oven proof dish.
11. Spoon over blackberries, then sprinkle over the crumble topping.
12. Bake in oven for 20 minutes. Eat hot or cold. Serve with egg custard.
